The funeral service for Jeanne Henriette Senjem will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 23, 2008, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hayfield with Reverend Paul Hauschild officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield, MN.
Jeanne Henriette Senjem, 92, died Sunday evening, October 19, 2008, at Maplewood Good Samaritan Center in Maplewood, MN.
Jeanne Henriette Denicourt was born March 12, 1916, the daughter of Désiré Emile and Hortense Henriette (Née) Denicourt in Chauny, France. She moved to Paris in 1936, where she worked as a secretary. When World War II intensified she returned to Chauny to be with her family. After the war, she met and fell in love with Louis Senjem, an American Soldier. In 1947 she sailed aboard the S.S. America from Cherbourg, France to New York City, then traveled to Hayfield where she married Louis Senjem on March 29, 1947. Jeanne made her own clothes with patterns from France. She was an artist, master gardener, and gourmet cook. She was active as a Boy Scout Leader. Jeanne enjoyed flowers and bird watching. She and her husband performed traditional Norwegian Folk Music at various events. She and her husband moved to White Bear Lake, MN in 2001.
Jeanne is survived by two sons, Daniel (Nancy) Senjem, Pagosa Springs, CO; Marc (Rosemary) Senjem, White Bear Lake, MN; two grandchildren, Lara (Jhony) Villavicencio, Minneapolis, MN; and Samuel Senjem, White Bear Lake, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 23, 2008, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hayfield.
