Jeffery Lynn Swanson

Jeffery Lynn Swanson, 68, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at his home in Albert Lea, MN, with his wife, Susan, by his side.

Jeff was born on November 17, 1957, to Norm and Pearl (Mattoon) Swanson in Britt, IA. He accepted Jesus into his life at the age of 14, graduated from Hayfield High School in 1976, and excelled in basketball at the University of Minnesota (Waseca). Basketball was a big part of his early life, playing with friends for many years. With Wendy, he raised his prides and joys: Tina, Sheri, Lynn, and Nick. They made him a Grandpa to 12. He loved taking the grandkids on adventures and for rides in the tractor, airplane, and the infamous magic carpet.

Jeff grew up farming with his Dad and spent his life devoted to the land, working with his sons, brothers, and his wife, Susan. Jeff and Susan were married on August 4, 2001, at their farm in Hayfield, MN. With her three children, Kelsey, Jo, and Jesse, they created their big family of 9. Together on the farm, they built a life grounded in teamwork and love.

Jeff lived passionately, embodying the adage: work hard, play hard. He was innovative, smart, and progressive with his farm business. Beyond the fields, he enjoyed camping, bowling, snowmobiling, softball, loud music, going fast, and many shenanigans. He winter-retired in AZ/CA and spent many of his greatest years on the golf course, taking home all the trophies. He took great pride in his home course, The Oaks, which he helped build.

He did not like being the center of attention, but his presence and the big way he lived life made that impossible. Everywhere he went, he made friends who became family. His laughs, wild stories, electric, loving, and adventurous spirit will be greatly missed. The endless memories, cherished by his family & friends about the man known as Swany, will never be forgotten in the places he called home: Albert Lea, Parker, and Hayfield.

He is survived by his wife, Susan (Johnson) Swanson; his children, Tina Krueger (Matthew), Sheri Prisby (Phillip), Lynn Swanson (Steph), Nick Swanson (Kelsey), Kelsey Duffy (Patrick), Jo Zubke (Justin), Jesse Zubke (Kayla); his grandchildren, Oslo, Jaxx, Rivers, Walter, Ryker, Adeline, Pierce, Sadie, Kendall, Aubrey, Barrett, Brody; his brothers, Randy (Carol), Craig (Diane), Mike (Wendy); and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Pearl Swanson; and his brother, Tim Swanson.
