JERALD (JERRY) ALBERT SCHERGER

Jerald (Jerry) A. Scherger, 75, passed away from pancreatic cancer on November 24, 2019 at Mayo Clinic Hospital Methodist Campus in Rochester, MN. He was born on October 28, 1944 to Ann and Albert Scherger. He was raised on the family farm and attended a one room elementary school. He graduated from the Dodge Center High School in 1962. Jerry married Doris (Dory) Pogalz in 1964. He graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1967 with a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering degree. He worked at 3M for 37 years, retiring as a senior scientist. He also farmed, and moved back to the family farm in 2002, and continued farming until 2016. Jerry then, started restoring ‘57 Thunderbirds and enjoyed cruise-ins and car shows. He enjoyed fishing and pheasant hunting with his black lab, Maverick. Jerry and Dory spent eight years wintering in Casa Grande, Arizona.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Dory; son, Nick (Marielyn); daughter, Jill (Garritt) Vander Syde; granddaughters, Charisse, Frances, Maria Louise and Rachel; sister, Jean (Kermit) Christenson; sister-in-law, Dawn (Glenn) Sanders and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 29, 2019, at the Faith Lutheran Church, 308 2 ^nd St. NW in Dodge Center with visitation one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center. In lieu of flowers the family would prefer memorials to Faith Lutheran Church, the American Cancer Society or donor’s choice.
