Joanne Beverly Woolsey, age 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Christmas Day at her daughter’s home in Mantorville, MN. She was born on June 9, 1931, to Irving and Hazel (Hedeen) Dahlin in St. Paul, MN. She graduated from Stillwater High School in 1949. She then got her nursing degree from Gustavus Adolphus College. She married Blair Woolsey in May of 1955. Together they raised their three daughters in White Bear Lake, MN. Joanne was very active at the Lee and Rose Warner Nature Center, being a trail guide for 40 years. She enjoyed playing tennis, spending time at the family cabin on Lake Superior, and enjoyed her family, especially all her grand and great-grandchildren. Joanne and her friends enjoyed canoeing in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area, even into her later years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Richard, and James; sister, Dianne; and her great-grandson, Dylan.
She is survived by her daughters, Pam (Duane) Bateman, Kirstin (Jeff) Schmidt, and Beth (Billy) Brisch; sister, Gail; seven grandchildren; and twelve great grandchildren.
Burial will take place at a later date in Hazelwood Cemetery in Bayport, MN.
