Joe Dube, 55, of Dodge Center, MN passed peacefully Monday, November 28, 2011, in the early morning with his caregiver at his side. He said his goodbyes to his family on the weekend and went to be with his parents. Joe was full of life despite the limitations of his Down’s syndrome. He was a storyteller and he’d tell you that he was one of the best fishermen around. He enjoyed his family and visited with them as often as he could. He especially enjoyed going ‘Up North’ every summer with his family boating and fishing. He was very proud of his ability to water ski in his younger days and most recently riding in the inner tube and driving the speed boat. He also enjoyed watching his nieces, nephews and their children play youth and High School sports and traveled the country with his mother cheering them on. Joe was an avid Vikings football fan and watched his last game with Tom Sunday night.

Joel Lynn Dube was born to M. Jean and John W. Dube on June 10, 1956, in Owatonna. Joe graduated from Dodge Center High School in 1974, where he was manager of the Football team and had many friends. He was very proud of his High School diploma and remembered many stories from his younger days. Joe always had a smile and a hug, even those he met for the first time. Joe will be missed.

Joe is survived by his sister, Diane (Reggie) Benson of Grand Meadow, MN; his brother, Tom (Joyce) Dube of Rochester; nieces and nephews and their families, Jason (Denise) Benson, Kyle and Joshua of Reno, NV; Cray (Tracy) Benson, Zachary, Jessica, Bryce and Blake of Grand Meadow, MN; Slone (Bryan) Suess, Peyton, Mya and Easton of Mantorville, MN; Ryan (Stacy) Dube, Lincoln and Matilda of Stewartville, MN; Amanda (Mike) Becklund, Nathan of Millville, MN and John Dube of Rochester, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home in Dodge Center, MN. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday December 1, 2011, at the Congregational Church in Dodge Center with Reverend Jean Boese officiating. Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center, MN.
