JOHN "JACK" THOMAS BECK

John "Jack" Thomas Beck, 86, passed away on December 12, 2017, in Minneapolis, MN.

John was born on November 3, 1931, the son of John and Sophie (Bakken) Beck in Hayfield, MN. He lived on a farm west of Waltham and later moved to Hayfield where he attended Hayfield schools. After graduation he was drafted into the United States Navy from 1955-1957. He married Janice Northrup on January 11, 1954, and they were later divorced. On April 27, 1991, he married Twila Reiser in Byron, where they have lived many years. After returning from the service he worked at Weyerhaeuser in Austin, MN and in 1964 he started at IBM as a machine operator and worked there for 26 year. He retired in 1990.

John had many hobbies, playing horse shoe, hunting, fishing, trapping, and he loved playing cards. John was always busy and after he retired, his main hobby was flea marketing, buying and selling. John loved sports, Twins, Vikings and especially the Chicago Cubs. A Cubs fan his whole life, a dream came true in "2016" when they won the World Series.

John is survived by his wife, Twila Beck, Byron, MN; daughter, Melissa (Mark) Kizilos, Minnetonka, MN; son, John (Margaret) Beck, Pepin, WI; step sons, Chris Reiser, Rochester, MN; Jeremy (Natasha) Reiser, Lakeville, MN; and John Reiser, Byron, MN; three grandchildren, McKenzie, Olivia and Alex; two step grandchildren, Christian and Cole; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his sisters, Violet Hanson and Eileen Roper; brother, Art Beck and his parents.

Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, December 15, 2017, at Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 501 2nd Street NW in Hayfield and one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.

The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2017, at Evanger Lutheran Church, 33554 ~ 660th Avenue Sargeant, MN with Reverend Dwight DoBell officiating. Interment will be in Evanger Lutheran Cemetery with military honors by the Hayfield American Legion Rothie Post #330.
