JOHN RAYMOND OLBRICH

John Raymond Olbrich, 84, of Claremont, MN passed away on July 20, 2017, at Koda Living Community in Owatonna, MN.

John was born on March 7, 1933, the son of Raymond and Elsie (Ottens) Olbrich in Harvard, IL.

John attended South Dunham Grade School and Harvard High School. He was united in marriage to Celia Whitt on September 6, 1952, in Harvard, IL.

John joined the army in 1954-1956, during the Korean War. The couple lived in Kirkland, WA for a short while. They returned to Harvard, IL in June of 1956, where they continued farming. While in Illinois they opened their home to several foster daughters and continued to foster girls from Illinois after they moved to Claremont in December of 1968. John was employed at Owatonna Manufacturing Company for many years and later at Triton High School and retired in 2000. He was active in 4-H in Illinois and Minnesota and served on the School Board in Harvard, was a member of Farm Bureau, Pure Milk Association and was a foster parent. He enjoyed woodworking and visiting with family and friends. John was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Claremont.

John is survived by his children, David (Lori) Olbrich, Moorpark, CA; Carrie (Steve) Laue, Dodge Center, MN; Allison (Craig) Ross, Claremont, MN; Carol Liming, Owatonna, MN; eight grandchildren, Danielle (Tony) Bower, Michael Laue, Ryan (Breanna) Laue, Andrea (Chris) Franko, Margaret (fiancé, Ryan Huddleston) Olbrich, John (Courtney) Liming, Brandon (Paige) Ross, and Samantha Liming; 9 great grandchildren; two brothers, Jake Olbrich, Cherry Valley, IL; Bill Olbrich, and one sister, Marjorie (Midge) Roach, both of Harvard, IL; and extended family including foster daughters, Donna (Randy) Hagen and their four daughters and six grandchildren of Dodge Center, MN; Janet (Larry) Hermanson and their two children of Rockford, IL; and Mary (Kevin) Anderson and their two children of Owatonna, MN. John was preceded in death by his parents, and wife, Celia; one sister, Dorothy Kleckner; 2 sisters-in-law, Janis Olbrich; Marilyn Olbrich; and one brother-in-law, Jim Roach.

Visitation will be 4:00 ~ 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 27, 2017, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, 25 South Street SW in Dodge Center and one hour before the service at the church on Friday.

The memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 28, 2017, at the First Presbyterian Church, 200 East Street, Claremont, MN with Reverend Coqui Conkey officiating. Inurnment will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Claremont with Military Honors by the American Legion.

Family prefers memorials to the First Presbyterian Church in Claremont, Cancer Fund or givers choice.
