Karen Murn Knudson

Karen Murn Knudson, 85 years old, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester, MN.

Karen was born on August 11, 1941, in Kasson, MN to Harvey John Knudson and Genevieve Murn (Howe) Knudson.

Karen graduated from Dodge Center High School in 1961. She worked for Federated Insurance of Owatonna for 35 plus years. She also volunteered for SEMCAC Meals on Wheels, drove patients to appointments, and drove van for Triton Public Schools. Karen was a member of the Congregational Church in Dodge Center, MN, as well as the Fairview Women's Auxiliary in Dodge Center, MN.

Karen enjoyed attending the Dodge Center Relay for Life as a cancer survivor, bowling on the Fritz's Mobile bowling team for years, going to the casino, and playing 500 and poker. She also loved watching the Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Twins, and Minnesota Timberwolves on her big screen TV. If her teams were not playing that day, she was okay to watch another sports team or a rerun of the Vikings, Twins, or Timberwolves. Karen also enjoyed participating in Superbowl boards. Other than sports, Karen loved watching game shows, especially Let's Make a Deal. She loved her chocolates, particularly from the Chocolate Shoppe in Mantorville, MN. She also loved her Cheetos. Karen would tell you that Fieldcrest has the best coffee around. She also enjoyed camping with the Chicos Family.

She is survived by nieces and nephews: Janice Klinger, Barbara (Tom) MacVey, Konnie Kerrigan, Julie (Dean) Suilmann, John (Donica) Knudson, Cheryl (Mark) Gillard, Betty Butler, Mike (Denise) Butler, Eileen (Bill) Huneke, Bob (Bonnie) Butler, Patty Hortop, Pam Thomas, Vince (Steph) Chicos, Diane (Mike) Hortop, Matt Chicos, and Jeff Chicos.

Karen is also survived by several great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and great-great-great nieces and nephews.

Karen is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Robert Knudson, Bonita Butler, and Joanne Chicos; brother-in-law, James Butler; nephews, Roger (Butch) Knudson and Larry Butler; nieces, Christine Knudson, Geraldine Knudson, and Mary Espenson; great nephews, Brent Huneke and Jacob Knudson; and great nieces, Megan Hortop, and Baby Girl Gillard.

A celebration of life for Karen will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Czaplewski Funeral Homes in Dodge Center, MN (25 S St SW Dodge Center, MN) with a prayer service beginning at 6:30 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center, MN.
