Kay Francis Meyer, age 92, a longtime resident of Mantorville, MN passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center, MN with her children, Dean and Sue by her side.
Kay Wahlberg was born on November 28, 1933, in Red Wing, MN to Ralph and Jeanne (Miller) Wahlberg. Her childhood years were in Cannon Falls and graduated from Cannon Falls High School. She was a medical secretary at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. She then worked at the Kahler Hotel as the hospitality manager for the Pinnacle Restaurant. She ensured guests had a wonderful experience for so many years.
Kay was united in marriage to Patrick McManimon and together they had two children, Dean and Sue. Kay and Patrick later divorced. Kay married Donald Meyer and the couple lived in Mantorville, MN for many years. Kay and Don enjoyed working together in their large garden and she helped with many of Don’s woodworking projects . She enjoyed outdoor activities like camping, gardening, hiking and playing golf. She enjoyed cooking gourmet meals for her family and friends and excelled in baking . As the matriarch of her family, she loved planning and getting the family together for time spent during holidays and special occasions. For a few of their retirement years they spent time in Arizona escaping the cold MN winters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Jeanne; her former husband, Patrick; her husband, Donald; son in law, Tony Rahrmann; and sister and brother-in-law, Virginia (Karl) Anderson.
Kay is survived by her children, Dean (Debra) McManimon of Wabasha, MN, and Sue Rahrmann of Byron, MN; stepchildren, Brian Meyer of Sand Springs, OK, Brad Meyer of Miami, OK, and Brenda Meyer of Springfield, MO; many grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
A private family burial will take place at the Chatfield Cemetery with a celebration of Life at a later date. Memorials can be directed to the Hormel Institute Research Fund. hi.umn.edu/donate.
