KENNETH DAVID KNUDSON

The funeral service for Kenneth David Knudson will be 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the United Methodist Church 20 ~ 1st Street NE, in Dodge Center, MN. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery in the spring.

Kenneth David Knudson, 86, died on Sunday, January 20th, 2013, at his home in Dodge Center.
Kenneth was born on February 20th, 1926, in Dodge County, the son of David Ole and Eunice (Foster) Knudson. He was united in marriage to Dorothy (Evelyn) Klomps on June 6, 1948, at the Methodist Church in Rochester, officiated by Rev. Trost. As a young lad, Kenneth lived on the Don Trapp Farm near Claremont, MN. He began working as a hired hand in his early adult life. That is where he became fond of farming and continued to farm until retirement. At the age of 22, he married and they lived on the Trapp farm for one more year. He began his carpentry career, at the age of 23. He become a well known carpenter and had taught many young people the trade, as well as support and helped many families when they ran into problems. (There was never a day that there was not at least 14 people at his and mothers table.) His trade included everything from the design of the building, to the digging block laying wiring to completion. He was proud of his accomplishments, but remained a humble servant of God his entire life. It is believed he was the oldest living member of the Methodist Church in Dodge Center. He loved the challenge of any job that someone would ask him to do. Telling his family they could do anything they put their mind too. His children always heard, you cannot make a mistake I cannot fix. He was confirmed at the age of fourteen, and studied the scriptures his entire life. His life was the example he used to help others. A deep faith, hard work and forgiveness were given to all he encountered in his life. He will be sadly missed by all of us. He began his married life by building a home for his family, then traded it for the Moffit farm where he raised his children, eventually building a retirement home one mile north of the old farm where he and Dorothy resided, caring for his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Dorothy Evelyn Knudson, seven children, David (Helen) Knudson, San Manuel, AZ; Jerald (Debra) Knudson, Goodhue, MN; Rodney Knudson, Dodge Center, MN; Gregory Knudson, Rochester, MN; Donald (Mary Kay) Knudson, Rochester, MN; Harold (Evelyn) Knudson, Dodge Center, MN; Mrs. Thomas (Dorothy (Susie) Laqua, Millville, MN; one brother, George Knudson, Dodge Center, MN; 24 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two children, Timothy S. Knudson, 9-15-1975; baby boy, Knudson, 3-2-1970, one brother, Richard Knudson; two sisters, Grace Hendershott and Donna Mutch Martig; three granddaughters, of Harold and Evelyn Knudson, Ruby Ann, Leeann, Heidi; and one step granddaughter, Trisha Joy, parents, Thomas and Tamra Joy Laqua.

Visitation will be 5:00 -8:00 p.m. January 22, 2013, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 25 South Street SW, in Dodge Center, MN and one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.
