Larry Edward Blowers, 81, of Byron, MN, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 31, 2023. Larry loved Jesus and his family more than anything. He extended that love, kindness, and compassion to anyone he crossed paths with.
Larry was born on December 31, 1941, in Austin, MN to Walter and Inez Blowers. He spent his childhood years in Lyle, MN. He graduated from Austin High School in 1959. Larry met Mary Ann Trygstad while roller-skating and they were married on April 21, 1963. After spending four years in the Air Force, he spent 18 years working at Hormel in Austin and then worked in apartment maintenance in the southern metro area until he retired in 2006. After retiring, he and his wife moved to Byron in 2008 to be closer to family. He never stopped improving and fixing things. In retirement you would often see him working at his son’s car wash in Kasson, MN. He loved that there was always a problem to solve and people to chat with. He was a beloved member of Community Celebration Church. Larry’s heart was bursting everyday with pride in his work, family and community.
In the face of adversity Larry would quickly find the bright side. “Goofy” was quick to put on a smile, boast a laugh, and use his witty humor when we most needed it. His grandchildren lit up his world. He was quick to become a kid again when they were around, running, wrestling, playing ball, anything to put a smile on their faces. Larry made life light and playful, but also incredibly meaningful in these memories.
Other activities he loved to enjoy with his family and friends include: traveling and riding motorcycle with his sons and wife, fishing, woodworking, going to the movie theatre to see a fantasy or sci-fi film, grabbing early afternoon coffee with friends. He loved Pepsi and peanuts. He loved to skate at the roller rink, where he met his wife of almost 60 years.
Larry was preceded in death by his dearly missed son, Bruce; brother, Bob; sister-in-law, Florence; mother, Inez; and father, Walter.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ann; son, Dean Blowers; daughter-in-law, Jenny Blowers; four grandchildren, Sarah Thorkildsen, Samantha Blowers, Jonathan Blowers, and Meghan Clark; and four great-grandchildren, Felix, Samuel, Charles, and Genevieve.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at Community Celebration Church, 27337 County Hwy 34 in Kasson, MN with Pastor Steve Larson officiating with a reception to follow.
