LAWRENCE JOSEPH WOOLISON
The memorial service for Lawrence Joseph Woolison will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at the Faith Lutheran Church, 308 2nd Street NW, Dodge Center, MN with Reverend Chris Brekke officiating. Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center. Visitation will be from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the church.
Lawrence Joseph Woolison, 84, died on Sunday morning, June 3, 2012, at his home in Dodge Center.
Lawrence Woolison was born on February 2, 1928, the son of Clarence (CJ) and Martha (Dushek ) Woolison in Owatonna, MN. At the age of 5 he was enrolled at St. Mary's Catholic School in Owatonna and taught by the sisters. He moved to Dodge Center in 1934. Lawrence was diagnosed with Polio at the age of 14. He was sent home to never walk again. Lawrence was fortunate to have a faithful dog which made him determined and motivated to go hunting again. A few months later he was walking and helping on the family farm. He was married to Janet Moe on June 30, 1949. Later they were divorced and he married Elaine (Branderhorst) Koss on February 14, 1977.
Lawrence was a successful farmer in Dodge County and worked several years for Ashland Township, grading and plowing roads. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and playing cards.
Lawrence is survived by his wife, Elaine Woolison, Dodge Center, MN; son, Jerry (Midge) Woolison, Dodge Center, MN; daughters, Rita (Eric) Olson, St. Peter, MN; Cheryl (Dennis) Grems, Cleveland, MN; Sue Woolison, Dodge Center, Michelle (Shane) Anderson, North Mankato, MN; Jodi (Mark) Benda, Dodge Center, MN; four step children, Pam (Michael) Justice, Dodge Center, MN; Albert (Rose) Koss, Kasson, MN; Kathy (Mark) Haukoos, Black Earth WI; Patti (Jim) Koss, Rochester, MN; 15 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 12 step grandchildren; 8 step great grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Adeline Hrtanek, Owatonna, MN; and Tilly Madsen, Owatonna, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 3 sisters, Marcella, Louise, and Dorothy.
Czaplewski Family Funeral Home in Hayfield is in charge of arrangements.
