Leonard Jorgenson, 95, of Kasson, MN peacefully left this earth Monday evening, May 3, 2021 and entered victoriously into his Heavenly Father’s care. Leonard was born on June 29, 1925 in Mantorville Township, MN to Harry and Blanche (Olive) Jorgenson.
Leonard completed country school through the 8th grade and worked on the family farm until being drafted into the Army in 1951.
Leonard married Mary Jean Benedix October 10, 1953 and moved to the current family farm where he resided the rest of his life. He enjoyed fixing things and tinkering in the shop, being out on the tractors and driving combine until the age of 88. In recent years, he enjoyed mowing the lawn and riding the four-wheeler and trapping gophers.
Leonard served several years as a Board member for the Mantorville Township. While serving on the board he took on the tasks of operating a road grader on the local gravel roads. Mary and Leonard enjoyed traveling and visiting places with friends and family and participating on bus tours. After Mary passed, one of Leonard's hobbies was his Honda Silver wing motorcycle.
Leonard’s life was centered around serving his Savior at the First Baptist Church of Kasson, where as a child his father (Harry) took his family to an evangelist meeting and there Leonard trusted Jesus as his Savior. Leonard along with his brothers and other men in the church helped a local contractor build the new addition to the First Baptist Church of Kasson where Leonard served as a deacon for many years. Leonard drove and maintained the church bus and organized two different routes, one to pick up kids for Sunday School/Church on Sunday mornings, and a second on Wednesday evenings for AWANAs where he was a leader for 15 years. Leonard was also involved with Bass Lake Camp, serving on the Board of Directors when it first opened.
Leonard is survived by four sons, Lee (Lynn) Jorgenson of Wayland, MI, Jeff (Amy) Jorgenson of Kasson, Rick (Beada) Jorgenson of Kasson, Jim (Marette) Jorgenson of Kasson and daughter Lori Jorgenson of Byron; 10 Grandchildren; 14 Great-grandchildren; and sister in law, Elaine Jorgenson and many nieces and nephews.
