LILLIAN ALPHA LIVINGSTON
Lillian Alpha Livingston, 97, passed away peacefully at Field Crest Care Center on Monday morning, November 7, 2011.
The funeral service for Lillian Alpha Livingston will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church, 109 Main Street East in Hayfield with Reverend Charlie Talcott and Reverend Clint Patterson co-officiating.
Visitation will be 12:00-2:00 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church on Thursday.
Lillian Alpha Olsen was born on October 31, 1914, in Timber Lake, SD, the daughter of Edward and Olga (Hansen) Olsen. She lived there on the homestead until 1919, and moved to Cedar Falls, IA. After a brief stay there they moved that fall to a farm north of Hayfield. She attended District 60 School on Highway 56, and graduated from Hayfield High School in 1933. On January 23, 1937, Lillian married Melbourn Livingston at the Edward Olsen farm. They farmed north of Blooming Prairie until 1944, when they bought a farm south of Dodge Center on Highway 56. Besides being a housewife, and doing chores on the farm, she worked for 33 seasons at the Canning Factory in Dodge Center and Owatonna. From 1972 to 1987 the couple wintered at Edinburg, Texas. On January 23, 1987, they celebrated 50 years together. Melbourn passed away in March of 1987, and she continued to live on their place near Valisty, occasionally going south to visit her sister and family in Texas. In 2005, Lillian moved to Kasson where she resided until moving to Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield. At her passing she was the oldest member of the Presbyterian Church in Hayfield.
Lillian is survived by two sons, David (Judy) Livingston of Dodge Center; Robert (Linda) Livingston of Rushford; daughter-in-law Rosalie (Wayne) Trom of Kasson; six grandchildren; Sheila (Paul) Kiltinen, Kasson; Sheryl (Brad) Dohrmann, Dodge Center; Shawn Livingston, Dodge Center; Tom (Lisa) Livingston, Rochester; Roberta Pogalz (Bob Fish), Mantorville; Staff Sargeant Todd (Sadie) Livingston, Ellsworth AFB, SD; eleven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, and one daughter.
