Rochester & formerly of Hayfield

Lois Ann Rud, 84, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2021 at Samaritan Bethany in Rochester, MN with her husband of 65 years by her side. Lois was born in rural Byron, MN on July 11, 1936, the daughter of Lee and Bessie (Smith) House. She attended Central High School in Rochester, MN.

Lois married Robert V. Rud on October 22, 1955 in Harlingen, Texas where Robert was stationed in the Air Force. They later returned to farm in rural Stewartville and in 1974 moved to a larger farm in rural Hayfield. Lois enjoyed cooking, gardening, and did licensed daycare for over 16 years – the daycare kids all called her “Grandma”. Lois loved watching the Minnesota Vikings and the Twins. She enjoyed buying and moving/selling houses and fixing them up for resale. Most of all she loved her five children, she was always so happy when we would pile into the living room on weekends to watch movies and she would make popcorn and cinnamon rolls. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren completed her and she spoke about them all up until the end.

Lois is survived by her husband Robert. Three sons and two daughters. Her son Robert Rud Jr., Hayfield, MN and his children Matt (Ali Flath, fiancé) and Jacob Rud (Lauren “Lo” Hill and her daughter, Lily), Son, Ronald Rud of Hayfield and his children Nathan (Tricia) Rud, (parents to Tyson and Sawyer);  Amanda (Brandon) Vermilyea, (parents to Cami, Cooper, Casey and Colby); Sam (Emily) Rud, (parents to Charlie and Jack) and Bailey Rud;  Son, Rick (Patty) Rud of Lakeville, and his children Eric Rud and Emily (Dave) Bernardy (parents to Reese Bernardy), daughter, Rebecca (Steve) Demmer of Byron, MN and their children Angela (Derek) Hietala (parents to Aviella, Grayson and Lyla) and Luke Demmer (parent to Hailey and Hayden); and daughter Regena (Neal) Anderson of Hayfield, MN and their children John (Cassie) Anderson (parents to Anamarie and Violet) and Cory Anderson.
