LORAINE JULIA MELDER
The funeral service for Loraine Julia Melder will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2009, at the First Baptist Church in Brownsdale, MN with Reverend Kraig Elliott officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Brownsdale.
Loraine Julia Melder, 87, died Thursday morning, March 19, 2009, at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield, MN.
Loraine Julia Varney was born March 12, 1922, the daughter of George and Carrye (Bulson) Varney in Mower County, MN. She was married to Virgil Melder on November 15, 1942, in Yuma, AZ. Virgil and Loraine lived in San Diego, CA. They moved to DeRidder, LA, and later to Brownsdale. She enjoyed working puzzles, needle work, reading and walking.
Loraine is survived by one daughter, Roxann (Tom) Winkels, Oshkosh, WI; three sons, Gary (Elaine) Melder, Owatonna, MN; Sid (Pat) Melder, Dodge Center, MN; Roger (Deborah) Melder, Rochester, MN; and one son-in-law, Keith Dunford, Rochester, MN; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Virgil in 2000; one brother, Orville Varney; one sister, Peg Hessenius; and one daughter, Gloria Dunford.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home in Brownsdale, MN and one hour before the service at the church on Sunday.
The family prefers memorials to the First Baptist Church in Brownsdale and Field Crest Care Center.
