LuVerne Harlan Lee

LuVerne Harlan Lee, 77, passed away at the Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield, Minnesota, on March 30th, 2014.

LuVerne was born on his family's farm on March 22nd, 1937, to Selmer and Mabel (Cramer) Lee. A life-long resident of the Hayfield area LuVerne attended schools in the Austin public schools district graduating in 1955. After graduation LuVerne enlisted in the United States Air Force, attained the rank of Airman Second Class, and served his country domestically and abroad until honorably discharged in 1960.

Destined to be a bachelor, LuVerne's careers included working for IBM, driving school bus in Waltham, Minnesota, and then for many years as a regional truck driver.  In his younger years he enjoyed annual trips to Wyoming to bow and gun hunt antelope and mule deer. LuVerne's pride in his farm upbringing and rural heritage displayed itself in his enthusiasm for collecting toy tractors and vintage toys that reminded him of his childhood. He was also a proud member of American Legion Post 330 in Hayfield.

LuVerne is survived by his brother, Willard (Evelyn) Lee of Owatonna, Minnesota, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

A graveside service for LuVerne will be held at 1:00 pm Friday April 11th, 2014, at Evanger Lutheran Church, 33554 660th Avenue, in rural Sargeant, Minnesota. Czaplewski Family Funeral Home 501 2nd Street NW in Hayfield is assisting with arrangements. At 2:00 p.m. following the service, family and friends are invited to the American Legion on Main Street in Hayfield for a time of fellowship and celebration of LuVerne's life.
