Margaret Becker passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was 82 years old.
Margaret was born on April 7, 1942, in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota to Adolph and Freida Kvasnicka the second of seven siblings. She grew up on a farm in rural Hayfield and attended Hayfield School District. After graduation she started work at IBM in Rochester, where she met her husband, Jerome (Jerry) Becker. They were married on January 12, 1963, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hayfield. They raised three children together, Brad, Brian, and Brenda.
Margaret was busy raising the children and keeping the home in tip top shape until the children went to school full time. At that point she decided to go back to work and was employed first at Hayfield Window & Door, was a Daycare Mom, and then Hayfield School District. Her favorite job was being an Avon representative for over 50 years.
Many weekends were spent camping and boating. The family enjoyed traveling on vacation out West, Hawaii and Alaska. After Margaret’s retirement from school, she and Jerry enjoyed their winter getaways to Florida, watching their grandchildren’s school events, and her morning coffee at Uncle Mony’s with the ladies.
Margaret is survived by Jerry, her husband of 61 years; children, Brad (Michele) Becker; Brian (Brenda) Becker; Brenda Ann Becker; grandchildren, Brady, Cael, and Grace; step-grandchildren, Kristin and Aaron Smith, Kimi and Eric Marshall, and Derek and Deanna Petersen; step-great grandchildren, Kiercelyn and Annika Smith, Colin, Vayda, Vivian, and Landon Marshall, Desmond and Domonic Petersen; siblings, Mary Ignaszweski, Marlys and Howard Harder, John and Colleen Kvasnicka, Jerry and Lori Kvasnicka, Monica Hensley, Jim and Patty Kvasnicka; Bob and Donna Becker, Jim and Debbie Schmeichel and many nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Adolph and Frieda Kvasnicka, parents-in-law, Art and Ethel Becker, brother-in-law, Florian Ignaszewski; nephew, Scot Becker, great nephew, Sam Becker and many extended family and dear friends.
Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 2nd Street SE in Hayfield. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 501 2nd Street NW in Hayfield and one hour before the service at the church on Thursday.
