MARIE MAGDELINE JOHNSON
The memorial service for Marie Magdeline Johnson will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 14, 2015, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 104 1st Street SE in Hayfield, MN with Reverend Paul Hauschild officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Inurnment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield.
Marie Magdeline Johnson, 91, passed away on November 8, 2015, at Cottagewood Senior Community Memory Care in Rochester, MN.
Marie was born on February 11, 1924, the daughter of Joseph and Alice (Seykora) Hartle in Owatonna, MN. Marie graduated from Owatonna High School and worked at J.C. Penny in Owatonna. She was united in marriage to Richard Johnson on December 26, 1944, in Owatonna. In 1962, Richard and Marie built their home and a thriving cattle dealership, Richard D. Johnson Dairy Cattle Exchange in Hayfield, MN. Marie played an integral part in the success of the business selling locally, as well as to buyers in other states and foreign countries. Marie and her husband developed the Johnson's Rolling Meadows Housing Addition, which expanded Hayfield to the west by 31 lots. Marie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, WELCA and the American Legion Auxiliary. Marie was also a homemaker, wonderful mother and grandmother. She was an exquisite quilter and enjoyed making crafts, bingo and playing 500. Marie is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Ron) Petit, Rochester, MN; Lori (Ron Lahr) French, Hopkinton, IA; three grandchildren, Phillip (Jan Jacobs) Richards, Davenport, IA; Lane French, Denver, CO; and Abby French, Iowa City, IA. She was preceded by her parents; husband, Richard in 2005; three children, Randy, Sharmen and Janice.
