MARY MONICA MAVES

A funeral mass for Mary Monica Maves will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 5, 2010, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 2nd Street NE with Reverend William Kulas celebrating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield, MN.
Mary Monica Maves, 79, of Hayfield, MN, died on March 30, 2010, in Rochester, MN.
Mary Monica Hall was born August 13, 1930, the daughter of Elner and Catherine (Judge) Hall in Stewartville, MN. Mary graduated from Stewartville High School in 1948. She was united in marriage to Alvin Maves on July 24, 1951, at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Stewartville. In 1954, Mary and her husband started Maves Rest Home, serving the community for 41 years. Mary was a caregiver, Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Leader, member of the Legion Auxiliary for 50 years, active at Sacred Heart Ladies Aid, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Mary enjoyed gardening, canning, fishing and traveling.
Mary is survived by her husband, Alvin Maves, Hayfield, MN; children, Patricia Maves, Rochester, MN; Alan (Cindy) Maves, Rochester, MN; Sally (Bill) Decker, Maple Grove, MN; Catherine (Randy) Olson, Pine Island, MN; Monica (Jerome) Leichtnam, Faribault, MN; 10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; one sister, Catherine (Paul) Hass, Stewartville, MN; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Robert and Earl; 3 sisters, Eleanor, Lorraine and Lucille.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, April 4, 2010, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home at 501 2nd Street NW Hayfield, MN.
