Mary Agnes O'Brien

Mary Agnes O’Brien, 93, of Kasson, MN passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center, MN.

Mary was born on December 13, 1929, in Rochester, MN to William and Edna (Schmit) Wrought.  She graduated from Rochester High School in 1948.  She married Bob O’Brien and together they had two children, Ginny and Bob.   They raised their family in Kasson, MN where Mary was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church.  For many years, she cooked, made lefse and served Lutefisk dinner at the church.    She was also an active member of their church circle.  She loved being involved in the American Legion Auxiliary and worked many steak suppers.

Mary was an avid bowler for many years.  She loved to sew and made many pieces for her family and friends.   She also had her own painting and papering business with her close friend, Darlene Poffenberger for several years.  Watching her “TWINS” was something she loved to do and looked forward to every game they played.   What brought her the most joy was being with her family and friends.  There will be many games of 6-5-4 played with family which she loved playing at family gatherings.  Such great memories held.

Mary is survived by her children, Ginny (Les) Jacobson and Bob (Linda) O’Brien; six grandchildren, Joe (Sara), Justin (Chelsea), Leah (Brendt), Chad (Dana), Emily, and Travis (Meredith); 10 great-grandchildren, Luke, Nora, Abbi, Logan, Kade, Jax, Liam, Lilly, Nora, and Ava; and brother, William Jr. Wrought.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Don; and sister-in-law, Dorothy.

A celebration of life will be held from 12:00-3:00 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2023, at Czaplewski Family Funeral Homes, 801 7th St SE in Kasson, MN.  The family asks that you wear MN Twins clothing to her celebration.  In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to them to give to charities of their choice.
