Michael Howard Head

Michael Howard Head, 75, of Kasson, MN passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Mayo Clinic St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester, MN.

Michael was born on November 3, 1949, in Rochester, MN to Howard and Josephine (Cady) Head.  He graduated from Kasson-Mantorville High School in 1967.  He went on to attend Junior College in Rochester, MN, then to California Lutheran Bible School in Los Angeles, CA and obtained his nursing degree from St. Mary’s School of Practical Nursing in Rochester, MN. He later went on to receive his associates degree becoming an RN.  He retired from Mayo Clinic Methodist and St. Mary’s Hospital after 43 years of nursing. He married Linda Stumbo in May of 1971, in Fergus Falls, MN and together they had three sons.

Michael was an avid golfer.  He also enjoyed crocheting, reading, crosswords, cribbage, card games, and watching sports.  Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a long-time member of Oasis Church in Rochester, MN, where he volunteered as their financial secretary and youth programs.  He will be deeply missed.

Michael is survived by his wife, Linda Head; sons, Ryan (Krista) Head and Kile (Brooke) Head; daughter-in-law, Kristina Head; grandchildren, Logan Head, Justin Head, Silas Head, Arlo Head, Ruby Head, Michael (Megan) Head, Nathan (Kajia) Head, Kayla Head, Halley Bulow, Madelyne (Jack) Kujath, Mercie Bulow; great-granddaughter, Emerson Head; siblings, Denny Head and Alan (Marie) Head; sister-in-law, Ruth Head; and numerous nieces and nephews; and Linda’s siblings, Frances (Will) Tanner, Kathryn Stumbo, Bruce (Laurel) Stumbo, John (Sara) Stumbo, Margaret (Steve) Sellars, Elaine Bacon, Dean Stumbo (Sherri Kubic), Gwen Alexander, and Joseph Stumbo; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Colby Head; brothers, Robert Head, Leslie (Janet) Head; sister-in-law, Donna Head; parents-in-law, Gordon and Ruth Stumbo; nephew, Marcus Sellars; brother-in-law, Jim Bacon; and a niece, Dana Hickey.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Oasis Church, 3819 18th Ave NW in Rochester, MN with Pastor Peter Shea officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to his service at the church.
