MILDRED MINNIE TRAPP

The funeral service for Mildred Minnie Trapp will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at the United Methodist Church, 20 ~ 1st Street NE, Dodge Center, MN with Reverend David Westlake officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center.
Mildred Trapp, 91 years, 9 months, and 20 days, passed away at her home in Dodge Center on Saturday afternoon, February 26, 2011.
Mildred was born on May 6, 1919, the daughter of Emil and Anna (Mensing) Dohrmann near West Concord, and moved at an early age to the family farm in rural Claremont. She was baptized at the Kenyon Church of Christ and confirmed at the Berne Church of Christ. Mildred married Donald D. Trapp of Claremont on October 11, 1936. She farmed along side of her husband until his death on January 15, 1973. She then sold the farm and moved into Dodge Center where she worked at the Variety Store and taught herself cake decorating. Mildred made many birthday, anniversary, graduation, and wedding cakes for her family and people in the area. Many people referred to Millie as the "cake lady of Dodge Center." As her daughters were growing up she was a 4-H Leader, manager of the 4-H Food Stand at the Dodge County Fair, and was a member of the Harmony Busy Bee Club. In her retirement she continued to make cakes, beautiful afghans for her family and friends, bake, garden, and do canning. She cherished watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren's activities. Millie was a member of the Dodge Center Garden Club, a member of Fairview Auxiliary, the United Methodist Church in Dodge Center, and volunteered at sorting, cutting and counting, "Labels for School" to raise money for the Triton Public School. Millie lead a full and independent life until her death.
Mildred is survived by seven daughters, LaVonne (Gary) Claude, Lakeville, MN; Janet (Gene) Hallaway, Darlene (late Dale) Keller, Sandra (Steve) Delzer, Dodge Center, MN; Karen (late Robert Page) Johnson, Owatonna, MN; Sharon (Jerry) Rather, Danville, IL; and Denise (Chip) Beadell, Morristown, MN; 25 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren; one brother, Harold (Phyllis) Dohrmann, Blaine, MN; one sister, Edna Meyer, West Concord; and one sister-in-law, Beth Dohrmann, Claremont, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald; son-in-law, Dale Keller; brother, Edward Dohrmann; brother-in-law, George Meyer; and great grandson, James Rather.
Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home 110 West Main Street in Dodge Center and one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.
