Nancy Albertine Hornseth

Nancy Hornseth, 80, passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Seasons Hospice House in Rochester, MN.

A Celebration of Life memorial will be held at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Normal, IL on Sept 21, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held an hour before the service and a lunch afterwards.

Nancy Albertine Banach was born to Bernard and Helen (Olson) Banach on July 30, 1938, in St. Paul, MN. She married Kiel M. Hornseth on May 21, 1960, in St. Paul.  He proceeded her in death on November 1, 2008.

She is survived by her son, Timothy (Jean) Hornseth, Rochester, MN and daughter, Kimberly (Randy) Johnson, Dodge Center, MN; four granddaughters, Jennifer, Gretchen, Rachel and Ashley.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Barbara, and her brother, Bernard.

Nancy graduated from Central High School in St. Paul. She then attended St. Olaf college in Northfield, MN where she met Kiel, her first week of her freshman year.  She later transferred to the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.

Nancy taught elementary school for five years, then decided to stay at home to be a full-time mother once children started arriving.

In late 1972, she moved to Normal, IL when Kiel was transferred with State Farm. She lived in Normal for the rest of her life, excepting the last 4 months where she relocated back to Minnesota near her children.

Nancy was active in her church, Our Saviour Lutheran, in many different capacities. She was also active in the Bloomington Symphony Guild for many years, and was a docent at David Davis Mansion for over 25 years.

Nancy enjoyed attending the theater, symphonies, reading, camping and travel. She really enjoyed exploring the United States and all of Europe on her many trips. Nancy enjoyed talking about travelling almost as much.   She started a walking group that walked each week on the Constitution Trail for 28 years.
