Naomi Lea Flury

Naomi Lea Flury, 89, of Dodge Center, died peacefully on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield, MN.

Naomi Samson Flury was born November 4, 1935, in West Bend, Iowa, to Elvin and Florence (Broadwell) Samson. She started school in West Bend and after the family moved to a farm east of Arnolds Park, she continued her education and graduated from Arnolds Park High School. Naomi attended and graduated from Methodist-Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester.

On June 30, 1956, Naomi married Darrold ‘Buzz’ Flury in Rochester.

Most of Naomi’s career was spent in nursing at Methodist Hospital, St Mary’s Hospital, Olmsted Medical and finished her nursing career working for Field Crest Care Center. Darrold and Naomi owned and operated the Flury Inn Bar in Dodge Center and drove van for Triton School District.

Naomi was a lifelong member of the American Legion Auxiliary Wells Peterson Post #384 and served as its unit president and a member of the United Methodist Church, Dodge Center.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Terry Berg of Newcastle, Wyoming, Cathy Radil of Owatonna, Alan (Kathy) of Sundance, Wyoming, and Donald Flury of Yellville, Arkansas.

The joys of her life included four grandchildren, Ryan (Staci) Fay, Brandon Berg, Robert (Laura) Fay, and Patrick (Jamie) Fay; and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Darrold Flury in 2017, parents, Elvin and Florence, brother, Robert Samson and sisters Dorothy Palmer and Ruth Boettcher.

A family memorial service and inurnment will be at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery Preston.
