OLEVIA "LEE" SUE BUSBY
Olevia “Lee” Sue Busby, 94, of Dodge Center, passed away at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Mary’s Campus on July 20, 2014.
Born August 29, 1919, she was the daughter of Andrew and Nettie (Reed) Varner in Bronaugh, MO. On March 22, 1941, she was united in marriage to James Busby in Kahoka, MO. They moved to West Concord in 1959 and to Dodge Center in 1973.
She graduated from Abingdon High School in 1937. James and Lee raised their children on the family farm. Lee was the owner and operator of In Town Floral and Greenhouse for 25 years. She enjoyed gardening and reading. She was chosen as Dodge Center’s Citizen of the Year in 1996
She is survived by her husband, James Busby, Dodge Center, MN; children, Carolyn Mackey, Danville, IA; Elaine (George) Crandall, Las Vegas NV; Joanne (Charles) Staub, West Concord, MN; William Busby, Kasson, MN; John Busby, Medford, MN; Linda (Robert) Beach, Dodge Center, MN; Janet Busby, Dodge Center, MN; 17 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; two sisters; one grandson, Jamie Busby; and one son-in-law, Patrick Mackey.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 24, at the United Methodist Church in Dodge Center. Reverend David Westlake will officiate. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery in Wasioja, MN. The family will receive friends at Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 25 South Street SW in Dodge Center on Wednesday from 4:00 – 7:00 pm and again one hour before the service at the church on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established at the Dodge Center United Methodist Church.
