OPAL OLIVE JOHNSON

The funeral service for Opal Olive Johnson will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 5, 2013, at the United Methodist Church, 20 1st Street NE in Dodge Center with Reverend Dave Westlake officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service on Monday. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center.

Opal Olive Johnson, 88, formerly of Dodge Center passed away Friday morning, August 2, 2013, at the Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna.

Opal was born on August 29, 1924, in Tenvik, North Dakota the daughter of William and Myrtle (Harwood) Kiefer. She was united in marriage to Henry Johnson, Jr. on September 25, 1948, in Dodge Center. Opal and her husband farmed in the Kenyon, Wanamingo, and Dodge Center areas for 49 years. Opal was a member of the United Methodist Church in Dodge Center.

Opal is survived by her daughter, Diana Johnson, Owatonna, MN; one sister, Renee Hedberg, Owatonna, MN; three grandchildren, Michael (Shelly) Barker, Melissa (Chris) Vavra; Trisha (Curtis) Hortop; four great grandchildren, Mason Barker, Landen Vavra, Dylan Hortop, Madysen Vavra; two step-great grandchildren, Randy Britt, and Michael Britt. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 2005, one brother and three sisters. Czaplewski Family Funeral Home in Dodge Center is in charge of the service.
