PAUL CLARENCE MASCHING

A Mass of Christian Burial for Paul Clarence Masching will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 ~ 2nd Street NE in Hayfield, MN. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield, MN.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 14, 2013, from 4:30-8:30 p.m. and Wednesday 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 501 2nd Street NW in Hayfield, with a prayer service at 8:00 p.m. and Rosary by the Knights of Columbus at 8:15 p.m.
Paul Clarence Masching, 90, passed away on May 12, 2013, at Prairie Manor Nursing Home in Blooming Prairie, MN of natural causes.

Paul was born on August 5, 1922, the son of George and Mary (Goetzinger) Masching in Carroll, IA. He grew up near Roselle, IA and attended Holy Angels School. On January 30, 1945, he married Margaret Engelen at St. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church in Carroll, IA. The couple spent their first five years farming at Churdan, IA. In 1950, they moved to a farm near Hayfield, MN where he continued to farm for the next 40 years.
Paul was involved with the Knights of Columbus as an honorary member and a Grand Knight. He was a board member of the Fairview Nursing Home, and RCO pipeline. Paul was active with the building of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was the church janitor for many years, Hayfield Community Pool, drove school bus for 10 years, and drove a sweet corn picker for Libby's Canning Company. Paul loved hunting, fishing golfing, playing cards, woodworking, traveling,the MN Twins, painting and weaving lawn chairs. Paul and Marge enjoyed many winters in Mesa, AZ and loved spending time at their cabin on Ten Mile Lake at Hackensack, MN with family and friends.

Paul is survived by his loving wife, Margaret of 68 years, Hayfield, MN; their children, Robert (Renée) Masching, Green River, WY; MaryLou (George) Schroeder, Bovey, MN; Ronald (Regina) Masching, Waltham, MN; Jean (Darrell) Beaver, Hackensack, MN; Ruth Ann (Joe) Matuszak, Green Bay, WI; Richard (Margaret) Masching, Hayfield, MN; Peggy (Rick) Gehling, Grand Meadow, MN; Pat Masching (Deanna Guy) McIntire, IA; 28 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren, and sisters, Florence and Louise. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mildred (Clarence); brother, Norbert (Velma); brother, Leonard; sister, Esther; brothers-in-law, Raymond, Clarence, Bert, Norbert and grandson, Wade.
