QUINCY BENNETT
The funeral service for Quincy Bennett will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 12, 2010, at the United Methodist Church, 20 - 1st Street NE, Dodge Center, MN with Reverend David Westlake officiating. Interment will be in Wildwood Cemetery in Wasioja, MN.
Quincy Bennett, 84, of Dodge Center, MN died at St. Mary's Hospital on Sunday evening, November 7, 2010.
Quincy was born on May 27, 1926, the son of Daniel and Viola (Odham) Bennett in Kennard Texas. Quincy was united in marriage to Barbara Foster on June 21, 1959, at the United Methodist Church in Dodge Center. They made their home in Dodge Center. He grew up in East Texas. Quincy enlisted in the Navy in 1943, and served in the South Pacific. He worked on the railroad and did Pipeline Construction for 44 years throughout many states. After retiring from the pipeline, he worked for McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing Company delivering trucks to other states, including Alaska. Quincy was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years and held different offices in the lodge. Quincy greatly enjoyed his granddaughters, family and friends. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother-in-law. He would always lend a helping hand whenever possible and always had a big smile and was very polite. He was a person of many trades. Last year he was chosen to go on the Honor Flight for Vets to Washington D.C. He truly enjoyed the trip.
Quincy is survived by his wife, Barbara Bennett, Dodge Center, MN; son Terry (Lynn), two granddaughters, Rachel and Michelle Bennett, all of Bagley, MN; two brothers, Donald (Billie Jo) Bennett, Latexo, TX; Bill Bennett, Crockett, TX; one sister, Annie Bell Watson, Latexo, TX; four nephews and nieces; and sister-in-law, Oma Bennett, Huntsville, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, John D.; J.B.; James; Efton; and one sister Loretta.
Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 11, 2010, at the Dodge Center United Methodist Church and one hour before the service. Czaplewski Family Funeral Home in Dodge Center is in charge of arrangements. Quincy will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
