RACHEL D. WIPF

Rachel Decker was born to David and Susanna Decker of Barrickmann Colony on January 31, 1927. Just before her 15th birthday in December of 1941, her family moved to Tschetter Colony. On June 23, 1946, she married David Wipf of Tschetter. In 1948, they moved to Gracevale Colony and to Rolland in 1978. Lastly they moved to Oakwood (Haven) and have resided since 1993.
For 25 years Rachel served as Kochin, at both Gracevale and Rolland. In her later years she enjoyed helping the cooks in our kitchen. She was also Zeich Schneiderin Gracevale for many years.
One of her favorite pastimes was golf cart rides with Olvetter, her beloved husband of 66 years. This was especially so when it became difficult for her to take after supper walks. Ankela was always gost frei. She loved visiting and was always happy to serve her guests lunch.
Singing songs of faith and reading God's Word were a daily source of strength. Several quotes that she offered as encouragement throughout the years were, "Don't stop praying," and "Don't give up."
Ankela fell ill in December of 2008 and became more dependent as time passed. Her condition steadily worsened until her care was taken over by daughters, Linda and Susanna.

Rachel Basel was preceded in death by her parents, Prediger David and Susanna Decker; sister Susanna; brothers, David; George; John; Amos; Simon; Mike, and a baby brother, Thomas.
