Raymond Richard Kyllo, 91, of Hayfield, MN passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield, MN.
Raymond was born along with his twin brother, Ralph, at the family farm on March 10, 1934, in rural Hayfield, MN to Richard and Thea (Bungum) Kyllo. He was baptized and confirmed at Evanger Lutheran Church in Sargeant, MN, where he continued to be a lifelong member.
Ray graduated from Hayfield High School in 1952, where he participated in football, basketball, track, and baseball. He was proud of the fact that his football team during his senior year became conference champions. Following high school, he served in the US Army from October 10, 1954, to September 11, 1956, having spent a year in Germany.
Ray was united in marriage to the love of his life, Darlene Bakke on December 13, 1958, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin, MN. To this union three daughters were born, Cindy, Debbie, and Carolyn.
Ray lived his entire life on the family farm he was born on in Hayfield, except for his time at the service. He had a great work ethic. He enjoyed working on his farm, milking cows, working at Hormel, Hayfield and Mower County Co-Op, and Greenway Co-Op as a bulk petroleum hauler. He served on the Evanger Lutheran Church council and the Evanger cemetery board. He was a 50+ year member of the Hayfield American Legion Rothie Post 330. He loved dogs, especially German Shepherds. He also loved watching sports, dancing, especially to polka music, and spending time with his family. He was a very kind and patient husband, father, and friend.
Ray is survived by his wife, Darlene Kyllo of Hayfield, MN; daughters, Cindy (Mark) Ostrem of Westby, WI, Debbie (Bob) Evenson of Fischer, TX, and Carolyn (Mike) Jungers of Lake Lillian, MN ; six grandchildren, Holly (Scott) Rachels of Wimberly, TX, Katie (Brady) Burdett of New Braunfels, TX, Amanda Jungers (wife of late Gerald Jungers) of Ham Lake, MN, Josh Jungers of Olivia, MN, Steve (Stephanie) Jungers of Cloquet, MN, and Laura Nesburg of Olivia, MN; great-grandchildren, Brecken and Tayleigh Rachels of Wimberly, TX, Luke and Cade Burdett of New Braunfels, TX, Ella Jungers of St. James, MN, Lilly Morse and Zoey Jungers of Ham Lake, MN, Makenzie and Jameson Jungers of Cloquet, MN, Jaxon and Cooper Nesburg of Olivia, MN, Quinn and Kolton Jungers of Olivia, MN; sisters-in-law’s, Wilma Kyllo, Etta Bjoraker, and Deanna Bakke; brother-in-law, Ed (Ginny) Bakke.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Thea Kyllo; grandson, Gerald Jungers; twin brother, Ralph Kyllo; brothers, Phillp (Gayle) Kyllo, Sanford (Orpha) Edgar, Maurice (Kathryn) Edgar; sisters, Ruth (Ernie) Sire and Nordis (Frank) Munnikhuysen; sister-in-law, Eleanor (Vernon) Johnson; brother-in-law’s, Glenn Bakke and Robert Bjoraker.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 104 1st St SE in Hayfield, MN. Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. until the time of his service at the church. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Evanger Lutheran Cemetery in Evanger, MN. Military Honors will be provided by the Hayfield American Legion Post 330. A luncheon will be held following his service at the Hayfield American Legion/Village Pub, 7 E Main St in Hayfield, MN, everyone is welcome.
