RICHARD EARL HENSLIN
Richard Earl Henslin, 86, was ushered into heaven by angels to meet His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on December 2, 2015. Henslin (Dawna), Dodge Center, Minnesota; Bruce R. Henslin(Cindy), Fountain Hills, Arizona; and Sandra L. Henslin, Richmond, Virginia; twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd and Marcella Henslin.
Richard was born to Reuben and Elma (Bartel) Henslin on January 11, 1929. He graduated from Dodge Center High School as an honor student in 1946. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Macalester College in 1950. Richard married Marie Alice Fuhrman at Pleasant Corners United Methodist Church on July 27, 1951. His mother Elma, a school teacher, instilled a love for reading. There were many weeks of his life where he would read 5-6 books per week. He served his community as a school board member of rural school district 38. He considered it an honor to have served in the Army from 1952 - 1954 at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He served as Secretary to commanding general of the 8th Division, Brig. Gen. John A. Dabney. While being a dairy and crop farmer, he won sales awards for selling Archer Oil products and Mallard seed corn to area farmers. It was evident to everyone that his first love in life was God. He enjoyed playing cards with his children and grandchildren. Richard had a way of bringing humor and laughter into daily life no matter what life brought. Most definitely his was a life well lived.
