Rita Kathryn Carroll

Rita Kathryn Carroll, 75, of Dodge Center, MN, passed away on Friday July 12, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family.  Rita was born on November 27, 1943 in Saint Paul, MN to Frank and Caroline (Miller) Schwinghammer.  On May 7, 1966 she married John Carroll in Lake Almo, MN, together they had one son.

Rita graduated from Stillwater High School.  She worked as a secretary for Ettel and Franz Roofing firm from 1963-1970. She then dairy farmed with her husband until 2000.  Both Rita and John served on numerous Co-op boards and volunteered for 4-H groups.  Rita and John traveled extensively in the US and Canada.   Camping in Canada, US, and Mexico.  She enjoyed quilting with the Holy Family volunteer group and making quilts for donation to those in need.  She was a member of the SE Minnesota Ladies Biking Group.  With this group Rita traveled to Holland, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, and Czech Republic.  She was also a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Kasson, MN.  At Holy Family, Rita was connected to the Funeral committee and Fall Festival and providing food from home grown garden.

Rita is survived by her husband, John; son, Dan (Candace) Carroll of College Station, Texas; two grandchildren, Casey and Andrew; and brother, Robert (Theresa) Schwinghammer of West Alamo, Texas. Rita is survived by numerous Nieces and Nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents along with Brothers, Richard, Leonard, Thomas and Edward Schwinghammer and sister, Dorthy (Schwinghammer) Farsund.

A memorial mass for Rita will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday July 18, 2019 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1904 Mantorville Ave N Kasson, MN, with Father John Lasuba officiating.  Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday July 17, 2019 at Czaplewski Family Funeral Homes, 801 7 ^th St SE, Kasson, MN, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.  Inurnment will be at Wildwood Cemetery in Wasioja, MN following lunch at Holy Family Catholic Church.
