ROBERT LEWIS “BOB” SHADOW

Robert “Bob” Shadow went to be with our Lord, in the early morning of December 25, 2009, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN. A memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at the Faith Lutheran Church, 308 2nd Street NW, Dodge Center, MN with Reverend Susan Wallager officiating.
Robert Lewis “Bob” Shadow, 75, was born September 28, 1934, to Kenneth “Earl” and Teresa “Ruth” (Nihiser) Shadow in Sullivan, IL. He attended schools in central Illinois and went to college at Minneapolis Business College, and the University of Minnesota. Bob operated an accounting and tax service at Kasson, MN for many years. He sold real estate part time for Clark Blaine. Later, he sold cars for Universal Ford, and for Johnny Kinsella. Bob retired on April 1, 2002. He married RuthAnn Balzum on December 8, 1956, at Grace Lutheran Church in Dodge Center, MN. Bob enjoyed his family, friends, cooking, baking, cars and mowing lawns.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Shadow, Wasioja, MN; three daughters, Brenda (Bryce) Frederick, Zumbrota, MN; Odelia (Joey Hoffman) Christenson, Millville, MN; Ramona (Pete) Hernandez, Plainview, MN; a son, David (Faye) Shadow, Dodge Center, MN; thirteen grandchildren, Jason (Angela) Shadow, Ginny, and Renae Shadow, Justin (Heather) and Niles (Angela) Frederick, Robert and Aaron Johnson, Sabrina Hinrichs, Benjamin Applen, KatieJo (Aaron) Rud, Tony (Lindsey) Peck, Jennifer and Dustin Grabinger. Sixteen great-grandchildren, Jeremy Keller, Jasmine, Kyle, Blake, Michael, Hunter, Isaac and NatalieJo Shadow, Robert Meredith, Callie Jo Almen, Matthew Kullenberg, Austin and Hunter Johnson, Charli Tripp, Taylor Rud and Brayden Peck. Sister-in-law, Betty (Earl Thornton) Shadow; half sister, Pam (Rob) Johnson, Cheryl
Shadow, Edith (Bill) Steimel all of Waterloo, IA and Karen Johnson, CA; step-brother, George (Donna) Livezey, Charles City, IA, and brothers-in-law, James Granahan, Callendar, IA and Jon (MurielAnn) Balzum, Dodge Center, MN; a God-daughter, Crystal Sharar Smith, Dawson, MN. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother, Dorothy J Shadow, step-father, John Booth, a son, Grant; three sisters, Leona Ruth, Margaret Louise Walker; Doris Marie Robbins; step-sister, Debra Sites, sister-in-law, Pat Granahan; two brothers, Everett, Harry; and a brother-in-law, Daniel Tompkins. Grandparents; Grant and Edith (White) Shadow, and Lewis and Maude Belle (Reed) Nihiser.
Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home 110 West Main Street in Dodge Center, MN and one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday.
