Robert “Bob” Greening, 77, of Kasson, Minnesota passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2024, surrounded by family. Born on November 17, 1947, Bob was the first child of Francis (Phil) K. Greening and Marie H. Greening.
Bob grew up in Rochester, Minnesota and attended John Marshall High School and Rochester Area Vocational Technical Institute. Bob proudly served his country as an active duty member of the United States Marine Corps from 1966-1970 and later as a member of the Marine Corps Reserves until his honorable discharge in 1972. During his service, he was deployed to Vietnam, where he fulfilled his duties as a paratrooper. His time in the Marines exemplified his courage, dedication, and commitment to his country. Following his service in the Marines, Bob worked as a machinist and heavy equipment mechanic in various positions including for many years at Elcor Construction where he retired in 2013.
Bob first married Linda Brandt (McConnell) and they welcomed one son, Jay. Though their marriage ended in divorce, they remained on good terms. Later, Bob married Mary Kisch with whom he spent nearly fifty years and together they also had one son, Mike.
Bob is survived by his loving spouse Mary; his sons, Jay (Stephanie) Greening and Mike (Rhiannon) Kisch; five grandchildren, Andrea (Aaron) Greening Milosch, Amanda Greening, Zachary Greening, Ashton Kisch, and Evan Kisch; and his siblings, David Greening, Joann (Charles) Bodin, Jim Greening, Gary Greening, Sharon Greening and Linda Wickert.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Phil and Marie, and two sisters, Marilyn and Judy.
Throughout his adult life, Bob had a passion for restoring classic cars and street rods and participating in many shows and road tours. He will be remembered for his talents related to this hobby and for his welcoming, jovial, and laid-back nature when spending time with family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Czaplewski Family Funeral Homes, 801 7th St SE in Kasson, MN with Pastor Pete Wyttenbach officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to his service at the funeral home. Military honors will be provided by the Kasson American Legion Post 333. Immediately following the service, an appetizer reception will be held at Events Sports Bar and Grill, 401 8th Street SE in Kasson. Friends and family are invited to attend and celebrate Bob’s remarkable life.
