The funeral service for Robert Fred Moser will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 22, 2014, at Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 501 2nd St. NW in Hayfield, MN with Pastor Aaron de Neui officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, September 21, 2014, at the funeral home and one hour before the service on Monday.
Robert Moser, 81, passed away at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield on Thursday evening, September 18, 2014.
Robert was born on August 20, 1933, the son of Fred and Stella Opal (Taylor) Moser in Bradgate, IA. He lived and farmed on different farms with his parents and went to different country schools near Bode, IA till March of 1947, when they moved to a farm near Hayfield, MN. At the age of 14 he went to Hayfield Public School for about 6 months, then quit and went to work at Guckeen, MN doing farm labor. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955, and retired as a SP3. After discharge from the army, he did trucking and laboring jobs. He married Louise Tyler in 1958. Robert worked on construction and at Crenlo until 1960, when buying a farm near Hayfield and farmed until ill health forced him to retire at the age of 63. He continued to help his boys farm and worked for Central Co-op trucking, until he had to retire due to health problems. He continued to help son, Mark with farming when he was able. He was very active in the American Legion for 40 plus years, and served on the Color Guard and was commander in the years 1989-1990, and 1996-1997. Robert's hobbies were reading and listening to news, Legion Color Guard, coffee at the bowling alley, driving his Ford tractor, going on tractor drives, and just puttering around outside, weather permitting.
Robert is survived by his wife, Louise Moser, Hayfield; three sons, Daniel (Gina) Moser, Hayfield; Mark Moser, Hayfield; Patrick (Marianne) Moser, Northfield, MN; one grandson; granddaughters; one grandson-in-law; one great grandson; one great granddaughter; three sisters, Ruth Fredrick, Glendale, AZ; Beverly (Thomas) Blake, Rochester, MN; Sharon (Dale) Greene, Spring Valley, MN; one brother, John (Ann) Moser, McGrath, MN; and 14 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Buz (Vern) Moser.
