ROBERT LOWELL THOMPSON

Robert Lowell Thompson, 90, of Hayfield, MN passed away at Mayo Clinic Hospital St. Mary’s Campus on January 20, 2019.

Robert was born on September 24, 1928 the son of Lowell and Goldie (Bjork) Thompson in Fonda, IA. He graduated from Pomroy Iowa High School in 1946. Robert was united in marriage to Phyllis DeWolf on August 27 ^th , 1950 in Rolfe, IA. In March of 1951 the couple moved to Hayfield, MN and farmed for many years. Robert enjoyed fishing trips to Squaw Lake, hunting, playing cards and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Robert is survived by his wife, Phyllis Thompson, Hayfield, MN; daughter, Marcia (Lee) Rash, Hastings, MN; sons, Richard (Merna) Thompson, Waltham, MN; Ronald (Darcy) Thompson, Blooming Prairie, MN; and Donald (Barbara) Thompson, Hayfield, MN; 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.   He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister Lorraine; one sister, Shirley Shaw; one daughter, Marilyn Thompson; one infant grandson, David Thompson.

Visitation will be 4:00~7:00 p.m. Friday, January 25, 2019 at Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 501 2 ^nd Street NW in Hayfield and one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.

The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 26, 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church 109 East Main Street in Hayfield with Reverend Steve Robertson officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery.
