Roger L. Hanson, age 83, of Dodge Center, MN passed away January 7th, 2021 in Rochester, MN at St. Mary's Hospital.
Roger was born March 14, 1937 in Austin, MN to Lester and Elaine (Stanton) Hanson. He graduated from Hayfield High School and then enrolled in trade school in Austin. While in High School, he joined the Navy National Guard and was with them for eight years. Roger was united in marriage to Jean Johnson on December 2, 1956 in Austin. The couple recently celebrated their 64th Anniversary. They were blessed with three daughters, Laurie, Linda, and Shelley. While in trade school, Roger got a call to work for IBM where he spent 30 years working. In 1976, Roger and Jean purchased and began managing Valley View Mobile Home Park in Dodge Center. His wife Jean handled the management side of the park and Roger did the maintenance work. The couple retired and sold the park in 1999 and then moved to Kasson, MN. They moved back to Dodge Center in 2018.
Roger enjoyed fishing, gardening, visiting the Horseshoe Chain of Lakes area, was an avid reader and loved history. He dearly loved his family and enjoyed attending the sporting events of his grandchildren. Roger liked tinkering with various items around the house to better understand how they worked and could put them back together
easily. He also enjoyed attending church and visiting over coffee with his church friends.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Lester Hanson and Elaine Steele; and son in law, Bruce Franko.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Hanson of Dodge Center; his three daughters, Laurie (Jim) Belden, Linda (Mike) Stevens, and Shelley (Randy) Ferson, all of Dodge
Center; grandchildren, Katie Williamson, Kirby Belden, Cheyenne Stevens, Jade Schoenfeldt, Shane Stevens, Brock Franko, Morgan Franko, and Kylie Franko; eleven great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Due to the pandemic, a private family service will be held for Roger with Pastor Roy Andrews of Living Water Assembly Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Living Water Church, American Heart Association or charity of choice appreciated by the family.
