Ronald Lloyd Vavrichek, Dodge Center
Ronald Lloyd Vavrichek, 78, of Dodge Center passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on January 16, 2018 after an unexpected brief battle with cancer.
Ron was born on August 17, 1939 to Lloyd and Florence Vavrichek of Dodge Center. He married Dixie Lee Richardson of Owatonna, MN in August 1959. Ronald and Dixie spent many years farming in rural Dodge Center. Together they raised three children: Nick (Kent Jones), Gail Groteboer (Joe), Teresa Burmester (Brian). After farming, Ron worked delivering hazardous fuels for many years. He took great pride in his unblemished safety record.
His passions included canoe-camping in the BWCA and Quetico Wilderness Areas as well as overwintering in Florida for several years. Ron's favorite place was his family's cabins on Trestle Pine Lake up the Gunflint Trail where he created many special experiences and memories for his family and their many friends. Ron was an honest, hardworking, positive and humorous inspiration to his friends and family. He will be immensely missed.
Ron is survived by his wife Dixie of 58 years, his mother-in-law Leora Richardson (Bob Stevenson), his three children, five grandchildren: Jessica, Emily, Emma, Samuel, and Jonathon, and three great grandchildren: Kinley, Kadence, and Evelyn. He is also survived by his sister Sharon Murray (Bill), and sister in-law Nancee Vavrichek, and his best dog friend Josette.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, siblings Amy Lou Scripture (Howard), Velda May Awood (Jim), and Robert Vavrichek.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, January 21 at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home 25 South St SW in Dodge Center, MN from 1 to 3 PM. Please no flowers. Per Ron's request, any memorial donations will be forwarded to The Friends of the Boundary Waters Wilderness.
