Roy And Elaine Green

d. September 6, 2022

Hayfield, formerly Dodge Center

Where you go; I’ll go; Where you stay, I’ll stay.  Your people will be my people and your God, my God.  These were the words that led Roy and Elaine in their daily lives and together in their deaths.

Roy H. Green Jr. and Elaine M. Green were carried to their eternal home in the arms of their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, from Fieldcrest Care Center in Hayfield, MN.

Roy H. Green Jr. was born on December 12, 1933, to Roy H. Green Sr. and Emma L. Green.  Five years later Elaine M. Mahnke was born to Harold Mahnke and Ada E. Mahnke on March 10, 1938.  Roy was born in Springfield, Illinois and moved to LeRoy, MN and later the family settled in Dodge Center, MN.  Elaine was born and raised in Hayfield, MN.

Roy and Elaine’s love story begins when they met while on a double date.  When their eyes met, so did their hearts and their bond from that point on could not be separated.  Roy proudly served his country for 2 years in the Army and did a tour in Germany.  During that time Roy and Elaine kept their bond strong through love letters they would write to each other and exchanged in the mail.    On March 8, 1958, they were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hayfield.  Together for over 64 years journeyed through hills and valleys but always together and always loving each other.  Roy and Elaine worked hard side by side providing for and raising their children, seeing to it that all the important things in life were met.

Roy enjoyed and took pride in working hard as a delivery truck driver for McNeilus Steel, Inc.  He also took pride in keeping the lawn of the family home looking like a beautiful park for his family to enjoy.  Elaine joined Roy’s efforts in working hard as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Mayo Hospitals.  She also enjoyed gardening, crocheting, reading, baking, card making, traveling, and spending time with the love of her life.   Both Roy and Elaine made it a priority to instill in their children a love of their Savior Jesus and made sure that their relationship with him was both established and thriving.

Their love story doesn’t end in their deaths but lives on in the legacy they leave in their 5 surviving children; Starla (John) Decker, Richard Green, Ronald (Brenda) Green, Sarah Breuer, and Sheri Lorentz; 9 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and also, Roy’s sister, Bettye Marquardt; Elaine’s sister, Marjean (Bill) Tietje and brother, Lyle (Sheryl) Mahnke.

Greeting them at Heaven’s gate is their infant son, Daniel Roy Green; both Roy and Elaine’s parents; Roy’s sister, Carol; and Roy’s brother-in-law, Victor.

A celebration of their lives and love will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at Czaplewski Family Funeral Homes, 25 South Street SW in Dodge Center, MN.  Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of to the service at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center, MN.  Military honors will be provided by the Dodge Center American Legion. A luncheon will follow at the Dodge Center American Legion Post 384, 401 Hwy ST W Dodge Center, MN.

Forever blessed be their memory and their beautiful love story.
