RUSSELL HENRY SEVERSON

The funeral service for Russell Henry Severson will be on 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 104 1st Street SE, in Hayfield, MN with Reverend Paul Hauschild officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield with honors by the Hayfield American Legion Post #330.

Russell Severson 86, of Hayfield, MN passed away on Tuesday evening January 10, 2012, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN.

Russell was born on January 27, 1925, the son of Henry and Grace (Kramer) Severson in Hayfield. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1946, and was stationed in San Diego and Honolulu. He married Inez Marie Saack on August 30, 1948, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Austin, MN. Russell and Inez had three sons and two daughters. Russell was a building contractor for many years, but his passion was always farming. He enjoyed fishing, building furniture, and was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Hayfield Lions, and American Legion Post #330.

Russell is survived by three sons, David (Jean) Severson, Cassopolis, MI; Daniel (Becky) Severson, Rochester, MN; Tim (Jen) Severson, Hayfield, MN; two daughters, Marcia Hansen, Rochester, MN; and Michelle (Lynn) Peterson, Rochester, MN; fourteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; one brother, Calmer (Karen) Severson, Hayfield, MN; and one sister, Lois Burns, Hayfield, MN.. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Inez on November 30, 1988; two brothers, and one sister.

Friends and family may visit from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, January 13, 2012, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home 501 2nd Street NW in Hayfield and one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Family wishes memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church.
