Ruth Ione Bierbaum

Ruth I. Bierbaum, 96, of Mantorville, MN, formerly of Apple Valley, MN passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at Mayo Clinic St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester, MN.

Ruth was born on May 8, 1924 in Elgin, MN to Henry and Mary (Dunn) Schroeder.  She married John Bierbaum on June 5, 1943.  They were married for 65 years and together had four children.

Ruth was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and matriarch of extended family.  She was the last link to a generation.  She was deeply loved by all her family and friends.   She served as an Elder in the Presbyterian church in the towns where the family lived.   She will be greatly missed by all.  Where will we get our family history and birthday cards now!

Ruth is survived by her children, John (Nancy) Bierbaum of Mantorville, MN, Jean Bierbaum of Eden Prairie, MN, Joyce (Jim) Doughty of Anchorage, AK, Linda DuPont of Wiggins, MS; grandchildren, Gretchen (Jeremiah), John, Jakob, Jason (Julie), Angel (David), Scott, James (Amanda), Jennifer, Jeffrey (Angela), Jonathan, Jesse (Joy), Joshua (Danielle); and sixteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; son, William; granddaughter, Sarah; and daughter-in-law, Donna.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Czaplewski Family Funeral Homes, 801 7 ^th St SE Kasson, MN 55944.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.  Inurnment will be in Oak Hill cemetery in Viola, MN.
