Sallie Bonnie Gibbons (Lowe), age 78, of West Concord, MN passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024 at Mayo Clinic St. Mary’s Hospital, in Rochester, MN, surrounded by the love and strength of her husband, daughter, and grandchildren.
Sallie was born on December 1, 1945, to George Loo Lom Lowe and Margaret Helen Lowe (Jollimore) in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She attended school through the tenth grade. She later obtained her G.E.D. and Certificate in Bookkeeping. She married the love of her life, James “Jim” Joseph Gibbons, on October 25, 1965, in Tacoma, Washington. From the beginning of their blind date in Seattle, Washington, it was love at first sight. On the second date of theirs, Jim expressed to Sallie that he was going to marry her. This past year they celebrated 59 years of marriage. Together they had two children, Patricia-Anne and Christopher. Together they all lived in Spanaway, Washington until 1977, where they moved to Anchorage, Alaska. In 2000, Jim and Sallie moved to Las Vegas, Nevada.
Sallie was a hard working housewife, she spent a lot of time volunteering for people with Muscular Dystrophy and spent most of her working career as a bus driver for Laidlaw Transit in Alaska and Las Vegas, Nevada as a handicap adult bus driver, where she eventually retired. Sallie and her husband, Jim, went gambling weekly here in Las Vegas. Her favorite casino was Arizona Charlie’s and she spent most of the time there playing “China Shores/Mystery” and “Love Stacks”. In 2019, Sallie and James moved to Minnesota to be closer to their family, they spent their time in Minnesota living with one of their grandchildren, Alexis, and her family. Sallie was known for her spunky personality and her love of slot machines. Sallie spent lots of time with the children of the family, including her grandchildren and great–grandchildren. Sallie loved to spend as much time as she could outside, soaking up the sun, with a fresh coca-cola in her hand. Her favorite sayings she is remembered for include, “What the hell?!” and “Ta-daaa”. She spent her days doing crossword puzzles and watching CSI, Food Network, and keeping up with Fox News. Sallie was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking for her family often. Sallie always had something to say and never held anything back, she was always honest about what was on her mind.
Sallie was preceded in death by her father, George Lowe; mother, Margaret Lowe; son, Christopher Gibbons; and her dog, Bebe.
She is survived by her husband, James Gibbons of West Concord, MN; daughter, Patricia-Anne Gibbons Bakken (Ted) of Mantorville, MN; grandchildren, Alexis Faro (Brandon) of West Concord, MN and Jesse Faro (Faith) of Mantorville, MN; and great-grandchildren, Anakin, Aurora, Connor, Ariel, and Eloise; brother in law, Pat (Ann) Spoken WA; sister, Linda and family from British Columbia, Canada.
A funeral service will be held at 5:00 pm Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at Czaplewski Family Funeral Homes, 801 7th St SE, in Kasson, MN with Pastor Roger Langworthy officiating. Visitation will begin two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Followed by refreshments.
