Sandra Lyona Klindworth

Sandra “Sandi” Lyona (Kreager) Klindworth, age 76, of Dodge Center, MN peacefully passed away on September 8, 2026, at her home.

Sandi was born on August 16, 1950, to Clarence and June (Johnson) Kreager, in Dodge Center, MN. As the only little girl in the family, she had fond memories of her childhood. She graduated from Dodge Center High School in 1968. After graduation Sandi moved to Rochester, MN, and worked as a “candy striper” at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Sandi was married to Richard Klindworth at Lincoln Lutheran Church in Lake City, MN on February 14, 1970. They later divorced in January 1978. From their union arrived the loves of her life, their children; Stacia (Staci), Shelene (Shellee), Richard (Rich) Jr., Sharice (Shari), Reginald (Reggie) and Shannon. They moved the family to West Concord, MN in 1976.

Sandi knew no greater joy than raising her children. She was a single mom for the majority of their childhood and needed to provide for her children. Sandi enrolled at Rochester Area Vocational-Technical Institute and earned her LPN nursing license. Two years later she completed her Associate Arts Degree at Rochester Community College. Sandi worked as an LPN at the State Hospital in Faribault, MN, an in-home nursing position in Austin, MN and finished her career at Fairview Nursing Home in Dodge Center, MN. She found great joy in bringing comfort to and caring for others, through which she provided humility, dignity, and respect.

Sandi valued visits from her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Seeing them always made her smile. She cherished those visits, phone calls, and pictures she received from them. For many years she liked sewing and gardening. More recently she enjoyed completing word find books, diamond art, jigsaw puzzles and playing electronic games. Throughout her years, she made several close lifelong friends. At the apartment building in Dodge Center, MN where she lived for the last several years, she also made several friends. Her life touched so many, her love had no boundary. We are better for having her in our lives.

Sandi is survived by her children, Stacia (Mike) Smith of Dodge Center, MN; Shelene (Terry) Rath of Kasson, MN; Richard Klindworth Jr. of Dodge Center, MN; Sharice (Nelson) Lecea of Rochester, MN; Reginald Klindworth of Cologne, MN; and Shannon (Tracy) DuChene of Medford, MN; 23 grandchildren;15 (and counting) great-grandchild; her brother LeRoy “Buck” (Connie) Kreager of Caledonia, MN; sister-in-law Pam Kreager of Faribault, MN; numerous nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Richard Burkhardt.

She was preceeded in death by her parents, grandparents, and brothers, Fred Kreager and Richard (Dick) Kreager.
