SARAH “SALLY” ANN DAVIS
Sally (Sarah) Ann Davis, 78, Hayfield, MN passed away on Monday, March 16, 2020 at Mayo Clinic St. Marys Campus in Rochester.
Sally was born in Windom, MN to Emil and Neoma (Daniels) Knuth. In 1960 she graduated from Wilson High School in St. Paul, MN. Sally attended classes at the U of M and worked as a secretary at Hamline College. Sally met Jerry on a blind date in 1962. They were married on June 11 th 1966, and were blessed with two children, Jonathan in 1969 and Peggy in 1971.
Sally worked for the Hayfield Herald through three ownerships and ten years at the Citizens State Bank. She always valued the time spent having conversations with family, friends, relatives, and new acquaintances, and especially her 10:00 a.m. coffee group, as well as the “Church Basement Ladies.” Sally was quite proud of the success of Jonathan, Peggy, and their spouses, Catherine and Brady. She truly enjoyed attending musical performances and plays involving Jon, Catherine, and the grandchildren, Connor and Katrina. Sally enjoyed watching “Days of Our Lives, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and the Hallmark TV Programs”, shopping (30% off at Kohls), annual trips to the Black Hills, eating chocolate, baking chocolate chip cookies, and relating with others. Although Sally is no longer with us, “The classy lady with the welcoming smile” has blessed us with many precious memories.
Sally is survived by her husband, Jerry Davis, Hayfield, MN; her children, Jonathan (Catherine) Davis, Rochester, MN; Peggy (Brady) Leitch, Kasson, MN; two grandchildren, Connor and Katrina, Rochester, MN; and her sister, Donna Miekle, Longwood, FL. She was proceeded in death by her parents, one sister, Ellie Lee, and nephew, Adam Lee.
