SHARON ANN SPITEN
A worship service celebrating Sharon’s life will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2016, at Evanger Lutheran Church, 33554 ~ 660th Avenue, Sargeant, MN with Pastor Dwight DoBell officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 ~ 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 2, at Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 501 2nd Street NW in Hayfield, MN and at the church one hour before the service on Friday morning. Burial will immediately follow the service at Evanger Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a donation in her memory may be made to The Humane Society (www.sharonspiten.com) or Evanger Lutheran Church.
Sharon Ann Spiten, 78, of Kasson, MN passed away Saturday May 21st in the afternoon. Sharon was born December 25th 1937, in Austin, MN. She was the daughter of Olaf and Mable (Bailey) Hanson, and had one sister. She attended country school in Oakland, MN and later graduated from Austin High School in 1957. Sharon was a wonderful mother of two daughters. She was grandmother to seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. In 1986, she married Mardean Spiten of Hayfield. Mardean had a family farm near Rock Dell, where they lived and Sharon became very involved in the operation of the farm. In 2000, they retired to Kasson, MN. After Mardean’s passing in 2013, Sharon lived with her daughter in Waseca, MN and most recently with her daughter and her family in Warwick, RI where she passed away. Mardean and Sharon were active members of Evanger Lutheran Church in Sargeant, MN.
Sharon’s many talents and hobbies included knitting, sewing, crafting, cooking, baking and spending much time with her grandchildren and great-grandchild. Sharon loved collecting dolls, decorative spoons, and photos. She especially enjoyed making lefse with Mardean and attending lutefisk dinners. She also loved animals, and spent much time during her recent days with her “doggie grandson” Monkey Joe.
Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Mardean Spiten. She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Kilian, Elysian, MN; her daughter Angela (Kristian) Omicioli, Warwick, RI; grandchildren, Emily and Kaleb Smith, Hope and Jackson Kilian, and Madeline, Gates, and Cameron Omicioli; great-grandchild, Lucca Trejo; sister, Darlene Baldwin, Austin, MN; sister-in-law, Carol (Gilmore) Spiten; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends.
