Sharyl Ann Herrick

January 22, 1950 — January 7, 2023

Hayfield

Sharyl Ann Herrick, 72, of Hayfield, MN passed away peacefully at home on January 7th, 2023.  She gained her angel wings after a brave, long and difficult battle living with Multiple Sclerosis.

Sharyl was born on January 22, 1950, to Roy and Alma Engelhardt. She grew up in Sargeant, MN and graduated from Hayfield High School in 1967. She earned her Certificate of Cosmetology from Austin Area Vo-Tech School in 1968. Sharyl was united in marriage to Dallas Herrick on September 26, 1970, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Austin, MN.  They welcomed Mishelle Marsh into the world on January 19, 1971. On Sharyl’s birthday, January 22, 1976, they welcomed Tera Lyn. Sharyl worked at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN before spending time at home caring for their daughters, as well as a few friends’ children. She then began working as a beautician with her brother, Loren, at The Capri Beauty Shop in Byron, MN. From there, she returned to Mayo Clinic and worked as a clinical assistant for many years.

Sharyl’s greatest passion was Family. She enjoyed spending time with Dallas, attending stock car races, bowling league, snowmobiling and camping with friends and family; especially camping with their daughters and then their grandkids. She loved the outdoors and being on the water and in the sun. She was a collector of Angels and every piece of art her grandchildren gifted her. She was an active presence at all of her children and grandchildren’s activities as well as numerous family functions, always with a video camera in hand.  She cherished her friendships and time spent with family, whether it be chatting over a cup of coffee, doing their hair, sharing Mary Kay or on one of many walks around town. She volunteered time with the Hayfield Fire Department women’s auxiliary and Trinity Lutheran Church. She will always be remembered for her quick wit and beautiful smile.

Sharyl is survived by her committed, caring husband of over 52 years, Dallas; their daughters, Misi Herrick of Rochester, MN and Tera (Cale) Rath of Byron, MN; dearly loved grandchildren, Syd, Reagan and Ashton; siblings and their families, Elaine (Don) Dvorak, Lyle (Rose) Engelhardt, and Lorinda (Michael) Schieck; sister-in-law, Judy Engelhardt; many nieces and nephews and extended family.

Sharyl is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Alma; siblings, Lucille Hoy, Dorothy Born, Donna Johnson, LeRoy Engelhardt and Loren Engelhardt; as well as many brothers-and-sisters-in-law and loved ones. Sharyl's brother, Lyle joined her in Heaven on January 22, 2023.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, 104 1st ST SE Hayfield, MN, with Reverend Kristen Anderson officiating. A light lunch will follow. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at a later date at Fairview Cemetery, Hayfield, MN.
