Shelley B. Wright, 71, passed away peacefully at her home in Hayfield, MN on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.
Shelley was born on June 21, 1953, in Austin, MN to David and Phyllis (Nelson) Wright. She grew up and went to school in Dexter and Elkton. She went on to college to pursue cosmetology and court reporting. She lived in many different places, including Albert Lea, St. Paul, Minneapolis, Sioux Falls, and Arizona, but loved living in her grandmother’s home for the last 28 years.
Shelley enjoyed always being outside and working on something, building something, she was a very incredible artist. She enjoyed having a good bonfire and camping and did for many years down by Iowa. She loved cooking, painting, and fishing, and being with the people she loved. She was a cook for most of her life, but in the end of her career before she retired, she took care of the mentally challenged and she absolutely truly loved that job. She would take them camping, out to eat, anything she could possibly do to get them out of the house. She enjoyed going to Arizona which Brittiny and she did many times, and traveling in general. She always loved a good road trip, especially spur of the moment ones!
She suffered for many years in pain, and having fibromyalgia for the last 15 years. She always kept a positive attitude through everything, and always tried to find the bright side of things, even through the daily pain. She always had God and Jesus by her side and in her heart, and that gave her peace. She was the first person to give you the shirt off her back to help someone out, and the most forgiving. She truly will be missed more than words can say.
Shelley is survived by her beloved and dear son, Matthew (Cathi) Wright in North Prairie, WI, her loving and caring devoted daughter, Brittiny Wright in Hayfield. Her brother, Gregg Wright, in Minnesota City, and sister, Nan (Darrel) Anderson, in Stewartville. Nephews, Jeff (Lori) Wright, Jarrod Wright, and Jason (Kristina) Wright and a niece Jill Wright. She did not have any grandkids, but had her grand-dog Pudge (Bela) whom she loved very much. Also her extended (second) family the Lee’s/Haugerud’s, as well as many other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandmother, Dora Myster and grandparents, Hazel and William Wright.
