SHIRLEY VERLENE (EVJEN) CATRON

Shirley Verlene Catron, 83, passed away on July 29, 2018, at Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield, MN where she had resided for the past three years.

Shirley Evjen was born on June 15th, 1935, in Vernon Township, MN and graduated from Hayfield High School in 1953. She married Norman Meyer in 1956, and they raised three sons, Marc, Jon and Aaron while living in the Austin, Brownsdale, and Hayfield, MN areas. They later divorced.

Over the years Shirley was employed as a secretary for the Hormel Company, Home Federal Savings, Hayfield High School, and the Kahler Corporation.

She married Brittain Catron in 1982, and they lived in Rochester, MN; Cary, NC; and Boca Raton, FL while Britt was employed with IBM. After Britt's death in 1993, Shirley moved back home to Minnesota and lived in Eden Prairie before finally moving to Chatfield after her health declined.

Survivors include her sons, Jon (Jane) Meyer, and Aaron (Jennifer) Meyer; stepdaughter, Kim Catron; sisters, Bonnie Baxter, Carol (Dennis) Dore, and Pamela (Joe) Noland; brothers, Leslie (Donna) Evjen and Ronald (Mapuana) Evjen; granddaughters, Krystal (Randy) Smith and Carley Meyer; sister-in-law, Donna Evjen; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Britt Catron; son, Marc Meyer; parents, Howard and Opal Evjen; and brother, Virgil Evjen.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2018, at Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 501 2nd Street NW in Hayfield, MN and one hour before the service at the funeral home. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 3, 2018, at the funeral home. A private burial service will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield.
