SHIRLEY ANN GARNESS

The memorial service for Shirley Ann Garness will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 2, 2010, at the Faith Lutheran Church, 308 2nd Street NW in Dodge Center with Reverend Justin Boeding officiating. Inurnment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Dodge Center, MN.
Shirley Ann Garness, 70, died on Sunday morning, November 28, 2010, at her home in Dodge Center, MN.
Shirley Ann Heck was born on January 1, 1940, the daughter of Carl and Florence (Mourlam) Heck in Clarion, IA. Shirley graduated from Dodge Center High School. She was united in marriage to Gordon Garness on May 20th, 1961, at the Faith Lutheran Church in Dodge Center. Shirley worked for the Dodge Center Star Record, Federated Insurance, McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing for 24 1/2 years, then retired to take care of her sick daughter. Later she went back to work at Head Insurance Agency for 11 years. Shirley enjoyed reading, mowing lawn, planting flowers and watching game shows.
Shirley is survived by her husband, Gordon Garness, daughter, Carla (Mark) Vacura, son, Garth Garness, all of Dodge Center, MN; one sister, Sandra Heck of Dodge Center, MN; three granddaughters, one grandson and one great grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Olane Garness, and one sister, Delores Kern.
Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 1, 2010, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 110 West Main Street in Dodge Center, MN and one hour before the service at the church on Thursday.
